Mexican teenager dies at the hands of a U.S. immigration agent

Miami, June 9 .- The Mexican government said, it wants a detailed and deep investigation into the death of a young Mexican on Tuesday after being shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Several versions state that Sergio Hernandez of approximately 14 years apparently was trying to cross the border between Mexico and the United States from Ciudad Juarez. At the same time other interpretations state that the young Mexican mocked the border agents by stoning their vehicles.

The lifeless body of the teenager was found with a bullet in the head.

The corpse was found under the “Puente Negro” in Ciudad Juarez, in the light of dozens of people, children and parents who wept over the death of the second fellow Mexican at the hands of border agents in less than eight days.

A week ago, the sudden death of Anastasio Rojas Hernández angered Mexican citizens, when apparently died in the city of San Diego after receiving a beating and electric shocks by several border agents.

The presidency of the republic of Mexico expressed in a press release “their deepest sympathy and solidarity with the relatives of the young Hernández”.

While the Mexican Foreign Ministry detailed  in harder words that the “use of firearms in response to an attack with stones, is a disproportionate use of force, especially when it comes from agents with specialized training.”

U.S. officials said that the border patrol officer was only trying to protect himself, when a group of youths who apparently integrated Hernández , were throwing stones at him.

Witnesses said to the Reuters news agency that Hernandez was playing with his friends when the officer opened fire and murderer the Mexican boy.

Also, the mother of the teenager said her son was not trying to cross the border. “He would not cross into El Paso, that’s not true, my son was in Mexico. They (Border Patrol agents) killed him here in Mexico, “she said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading an multi – agency investigation into the incident while the officer involved was suspended until further notice.
